Geodetic satellite, based on the GLONASS-M chassis with equipment including radar altimeter, laser retro reflectors plus GLONASS and GPS receivers. Aimed at 1000 km circular orbit but circularisation burn of the Briz-KM did not occur. As a result, the satellite was unable to generate sufficient power from its solar cells. Mar 2, the satellite was declared as a loss and unable to conduct its intended mission. Later in 2011 Cosmos 2470's orbit allowed its batteries to charge sufficiently for it to start working and controllers were successful in sending commands but it was unable to fulfil any of its original duties. Re-entered 2013 Jul 15 around 14:27 UTC while southbound over China.

Experimental navigation satellite. GLONASS-K is a new design and has a planned life of ten years. One of the major advancements is that it is unpressurised, leading to a reduction in the mass, allowing a single satellite to be Soyuz launched. GLONASS-K also carries radio receiving equipment for the COSPAS-SARSAT international search and rescue system.

Military imaging reconnaissance satellite, sometimes referred to as 'Yantar', with manoeuvring engine to maintain its orbit. At 19:17 UTC. After two complete circuits of the Earth, the satellite came under the control of a dedicated ground station network. The long wait may indicate difficulties in establishing communication. Descent vehicle re-entered and landed 2011 Oct 24 at around 20:00 UTC. Dropped off two containers of exposed film at different points during the mission.

Military imaging reconnaissance satellite, sometimes referred to as 'Yantar', with manoeuvring engine to maintain its orbit. Dropped off two containers of exposed film at different times during the mission for retro-fire and recovery - the first one landed, probably near Orenburg, June 6 at about 08:08 UTC and the second one in, the same area, July 3 at around 04:01 UTC. The main camera/film module was recovered near Orenburg on Sep 2 at 18:27 UTC following retro-fire.

Small satellite with low thrust ion engine to demonstrate orbit changing capability. Used its own Briz-KM rocket body (2014-028D/39764) as a station-keeping target. Detected by US tracking sensors and originally catalogued as debris, it was not included in early announcements of the launch. Early 2014 July - started a series of manoeuvres to reduce the separation in orbit planes between itself and the Briz-KM. 2014 November 8/9 it matched planes with the rocket and manoeuvred alongside it, co-orbiting within a few tens of metres. The experiment may then have been complete because, as of 2014 Dec 1, the satellite began identifying itself as amateur radio satellite Radio Sputnik 47 (RS-47). 2021 Dec - Space-Track reported 22 debris items from a partial break-up that occurred on Oct 23 that year at ~20:00 UTC. Further disintegrated 2023 Jan 4.

Military imaging reconnaissance satellite, sometimes referred to as 'Yantar', with manoeuvring engine to maintain its orbit. It released two containers of exposed film at different times during the mission for retro-fire and recovery with landings 2015 Jul 7 at around 09:35 UTC and Aug 7 at around 04:45 UTC. The main module landed in the Orenburg region of Russia 2015 Sep 17 at around 22:15 UTC. Spacetrack's re-entry date of Sep 18 is incorrect - it may refer to an uncatalogued piece of debris (eg solar panel) discarded in orbit before retro-fire.

Small Russian military satellite equipped with optical and microwave sensors to monitor naval activity on and below the ocean surface. Carried on second test flight of Soyuz 2-1v. Lost when it remained attached to Volga rocket stage. Volga de-orbit manoeuvre (Dec 6 around 03:30 UTC) resulted in low perigee rather than re-entry because of extra mass during thruster firing. Separated from the Volga Dec 7, probably as a result of heating and buffetting in the upper atmosphere around perigee. Re-entered Dec 8 at 05:43 UTC southbound on the Greenwich meridian near 35° south, above the south Atlantic Ocean.

Carried Cosmos 2511 and Cosmos 2512 to orbit. made de-orbit manoeuvre Dec 6 around 03:30 UTC with Cosmos 2511 still attached but the satellite seems to have been released on Dec 7 as a result of air resistance and buffetting in the upper atmosphere around perigee. Military satellite, one of a simultaneously-launched, but not necessarily related, pair. Released from Volga stage shortly after 20:17 UTC. 2022 November - Resurs-P 3 (41386, 2016-016A) manoeuvred alongside it and was then used as a rendezvous target, possibly to test a satellite servicing mission profile. Manoeuvres ceased 2023 July 26 and the orbit then decayed naturally up to re-entry.

Possible imaging reconnaissance satellite. Initial near-sun-synchronous LTDN matched Cosmos 2560 (54050/2022-135A), Cosmos 2555 (52330/2022-044A) and Cosmos 2551 (49127/2021-081A). All of them re-entered naturally after a few weeks without any orbital manoeuvres. Cosmos 2568 followed a similar pattern until a minor orbit 'tweak' July 11. Then, for about eight weeks, August 16 - October 6, it operated a thruster to maintain a steady orbit height with a precise 16 day repeating ground track before resuming steady orbit decay. On Oct 11 it started a new phase of orbit maintenance that lasted through 2024 August when the orbit was raised by 11 km. Ceased all manoeuvring 2024 November.
